EDGEWOOD'S FACULTY

  Robin Socci, Ph.D.
Dr. Socci has a doctoral degree in Physiology from Rutgers University and serves as a Research Consultant to the Department of Pharmacology/Toxicology at Morehouse School of Medicine. He has taught at the undergraduate, graduate, and medical school levels in biology, biochemistry, physiology, and pharmacology/toxicology. Dr. Socci is aware of the need for Oriental Medicine practitioners and others to be knowledgeable when properly evaluating published clinical trials and case studies. He is interested in the use of herbal medicines in treatment and the awareness of their interactions with pharmaceuticals and over-the-counter medicines. From 2002 to 2003, he participated in the development of a core grant application from the Department of Family Medicine at Morehouse School of Medicine and Edgewood College of Georgia School of Oriental Medicine to the National Center for Complementary and Alternative Medicine (NCCAM).Active for Summer 2006)
 
 
  Siamak Shemrani, M.S.O.M., L. Ac.
Professor Shemrani graduated from Midwest College of Oriental Medicine in Chicago, IL with a Bachelor of Science degree in Nutrition and a Master of Science in Oriental Medicine in 2004. Professor Shemrani is a licensed acupuncturist, is certified by NCCAOM and CCAOM, and maintains a private practice specializing in general practice, gynecology, and dermatology.
 
 

Tae Sun Park, M.S.O.M., L. Ac., Dipl. Ac., Dipl. C.H.(Active for Summer 2006)
Tae Sun Park is a professor at Edgewood College of Oriental Medicine. Professor Park has his Master of Science Degree in Oriental Medicine from Pacific College of Oriental Medicine in New York. He is a member of the Korean Acupuncturist Member Association of New York, the Korea Aromatherapy Association, and the SOMUN Study Association in New York. He is a licensed acupuncturist in the state of Georgia.

 
  Rudy Scarfalloto, D.C.
Dr. Scarfalloto received a Bachelor of Science degree in Biology from Brooklyn College in 1976 and a Doctor of Chiropractic degree at Life College in 1984. He maintains a chiropractic practice in Atlanta, Georgia where he also conducts health related seminars. The cornerstone of Dr. Scarfalloto's work as a healer and writer is a strong emphasis on the intimate connection between the body and mind, which lead to the writing of his first book, The Dance of Opposites.
     
 

Cameron Hollister, M.S., L. Ac.

Cameron Hollister graduated from the American College of Traditional Chinese Medicine in 1998. In private practice and at the Haight Ashbury Free Medical Clinic in San Francisco for three years, he returned to Atlanta in 2002, currently maintaining a practice in Buckhead. At Edgewood College since 2007, Cameron enjoys teaching Tui Na Chinese Massage as well as Acupuncture and Moxibustion.

 

 
 

Sharon Jennings-Rojas, M.Ac., L.Ac.

Sharon Jennings-Rojas is a master of acupuncture and a licensed acupuncturist.  Professor Rojas obtained her Master of Acupuncture from the Tai Sophia Institute and then completed her graduate work at the Traditional Acupuncture Institute—School of Philosophy and Healing In Action.  She possesses seventeen years of administrative and clinical experience in the field of holistic and alternative medicine.  Professor Rojas has vast experience in various forms of bodywork and is also a member of several naturopathic organizations across the nation. In addition to her work with the Departments of Health in New York and Baltimore , she has also presented at several alternative medicine conferences throughout the United States .  Professor Rojas is particularly vested in the healing of the whole self and believes that disease is minimized, and often eradicated, when the body, mind, and spirit are harmonized. Professor Rojas lives in Dacula , Georgia with her husband and three children. She continues to maintain a successful practice in Owings Mills , Maryland .

Professor Shroff holds a Master of Arts degree in Communication Disorders from California State University at Northridge and has practiced Speech-Language Pathology in a variety of settings, including special education and stroke rehabilitation. After acquiring several family dogs, she was inspired to complete a certification program in the Tellington Touch Method of Companion Animal Care and Training. Ms. Shroff has consulted privately with and taught training classes and workshops for dogs and their guardians. Having spent over twenty years facilitating interactions and relationships between various people and species, Ms. Shroff believes that true connection and understanding occur beyond verbal speech and formal language. She advocates the practice of Nonviolent Communication (NVC) SM, particularly the cultivation of empathy and mindfulness in effective communication, and incorporates this model in her teaching.

  Tango Dawkins-Hill, Ph.D.
New for Summer 2007 Dr. Hill is an innovative educator who has taught and worked in the fields of international business, political science, human resources, project management, and defense security. Dr. Hill holds a Ph.D. in International Relations from Bernelli University (West Indies), a Master of Science degree in International Relations from Troy State University ( Wiesbaden, West Germany), and a Bachelor of Arts in Sociology from Bloomfield College (NJ). Dr. Hill established a nontraditional audio and visual course outline for students assigned to the Middle East during the Desert Shield/Storm War.  She also taught political science courses throughout Europe and the United States to foreign and American students for ten years.  In addition, she assisted in developing Ashworth College’s first online curriculum in International Business and Strategic Management. r. Hill is the President and CEO of T.R. Hill International Network, Inc., an international consulting firm with locations in Georgia and New Jersey, which provides management training and project evaluation services for small minority-owned business enterprises. As a business owner, she lectures and facilitates workshops nationally with a mission to assist in the empowerment of small business owners everywhere.

Sifu Katherine Myrick
Sifu Katherine Myrick began her training with Yang style Tai Ji Quan at the Chinese Shaolin Center-Norcross in 1996, and since then, has expanded her studies to include Tai Ji, Baguazhang, Xing Yi, and Qigong. Sifu Katherine completed the Instructor Certification process (1999), performed in multicultural demonstrations in China (1998 & 2001), earned the title of Sifu, meaning teacher (2002), and took over the management of the Internal Martial Arts program at the Center (2002). Today, Sifu Katherine is a 4th Degree Black Sash, owner of the Chinese Shaolin Center-Norcross, and continues to study both Internal Martial Arts and Kung Fu under the supervision of Senior Master Gary Grooms, a direct student of Grandmaster Sin Kwang The’, the third generation lineage grandmaster of the Fukien Temple.
